Provincial Assembly

The Provincial Assembly of Christ the Priest Province took place from June 24-27 at Mount Angel Abbey. Most of us stayed at the Felix Rougier House of Studies, but we also used a few rooms from the seminary for extra lodging. Our work took place in Annunciation Hall, while our meals and liturgies were at our House. There were 22 participants, including 3 lay women. We were blessed with the presence of Fr. Gerardo Gordillo, MSpS, in representation of the Superior General, and the able facilitation of Fr. Bernardo Sada, MSpS.

The Assembly had 3 stages:

  1. Seeing clearly – Common Awareness
    • Reality of the Province, listening to the communities’ feedback
  2. Naming what matters – Common Goals
    • Discernment of shared focus points
  3. Planning in the Spirit – Common Strategies
    • Strategies and adjustments to the PSP

The most important product of the assembly was the formulation of our 5 points of focus:

  1. Foster a culture of healing, unity, and fraternal accountability
  2. Renew our commitment to vocational ministry as a shared responsibility
  3. Clarify and discern our mission priorities in light of our charism
  4. Ensure responsible and transparent financial stewardship
  5. Strengthen charismatic, synodal leadership at all levels of the Province

In diagram form:

We believe that God is asking our Province to put our hearts, time and energy into these focus points.
